Frank’s Farm is a Food & Drink retail park where, in time, everything sold will come from the farm, local farms, local people’s gardens and even schools. And seasonal produce will be cheaper than the supermarket like for like.
Based on the edge of Elsworth village the 4th generation family farmers have converted old farm buildings into shops run by passionate foodies.
So far Frank’s has opened a butcher, sourdough baker, deli with barista, cakery, biscotti & pasta, and mushroom farm.
Very soon this will be followed by regenerative veg grower in surrounding fields, a restaurant, micro brewery and cookery school, followed by grain mill, dairy with milk and cheese from cows in the park and citrus and avocados from polly tunnels.
Frank’s Farm was named after the founder Anthony Davison’s great grandfather Frank Davison who bought the farm 100 years ago when farms were an asset to their community by providing fresh food, jobs and seasonal celebrations.
Anthony wants Frank’s Farm Food Park to bring back these times by providing events, courses and a social, interactive, more sustainable place to buy and discover real healthy food.
Anthony who is also the founder of website BigBarn CIC said:
“I have spent the last 22 years trying to change the supermarket dominated food industry to a local food based system where sustainable communities are built around food.
The Food Park is a place where local people, the school, farmers and food business come together to trade, communicate and celebrate seasonal foods and in the process build a sustainable, healthy, inclusive, enlightened, foodie community.
We want the Food Park concept to be duplicated all over the UK using our BigBarn Local Food Map, farm networks and sharing knowledge. All helping to increase farm, incomes, diversity, soil regeneration, food security, food knowledge, health, and wellbeing.
To make the park work and encourage local food production we need customers to visit and providing feedback, so please visit and join in. We even want customers to grow food at home to sell at the park, called Crop for the Shop.”
